Depends on what caused the bomb and was the medium damaged.



If the electrical components newly died, the disk can be transferred to another drive, by a trained technician. If the heads impacted the medium surface, well the nouns scraped is lost, but the other sectors may be capable of be salvaged. it depends on how much be physically damaged at that point.

You cant do it yourself.
Try EasyRecovery software. Remove the hard drive and install a tentative one. Attach the damaged drive as a slave, or use an external box resembling Icy Box. Start up EasyRecovery and follow instructions. I've had at least possible 3 hard disk failure, and this has save me every time. One word of advice. Don't try to fix the drive. After finance up my files, I reformatted my drive, ran a check-disk, and used it again. Bad theory. Pretty soon, I was going through the complete procedure again.
